Why the change and why was it called "Seventeen"? Surely they don't feature 17 year old girls? To answer this I have to take you on a little history lesson.

It was so called because that was the average age of the girls who featured in the first edition.

Yes indeed, girls of 16 and 17 appeared in the magazine in those days. In Holland this was perfectly legal at the time. It was a huge success and led to the publisher starting to make videos under the "Seventeen" brand too. Of course these started to be sold in other countries. This was when the difficulties over the ages of the girls started to surface. In other countries around the world, 18 was and is the minimum legal age of a girl appearing nude.

So eventually the publishers had to stop featuring girls under this age. By this time we are in the age of the internet and the brand had become Club Seventeen. All the content showing girls under 18 was long since removed so the answer to the opening question here is no, they don't feature 17 year olds any more. And that is why the name is being changed. To avoid giving any impression at all that underage girls appear anywhere in the site.
